We wanted to improve the standards of our industry, where at the time corners were cut, and risks were accepted as a daily occurrence.
We agreed that we never could do the highest quality and be competitive in todays markets, so we needed to think bigger.
This then sparked a vision of the future on what we want to meet, and 14 years later we are still striving to improve.
We’re proud of how far we’ve come, in 2012 two friends called Dave, set out to mix up the industry.
At the start  we had us 2 and 3 other subcontractors and 1 apprentice.
Today this number stands at 21 employees, and a number of subcontractors.
Our biggest breakthrough came when we earned a spot on the Portsmouth City Council framework—as the smallest company on there.
We surprised even ourselves by scoring a previously thought unachievable rating for our method statement. This highlighted that we lived by the motto.
The people who set up the tender questions told a room full of companies that nobody would ever score 100%, but it was something to strive towards.
We achieved it on our first attempt. Pretty proud of that.
That moment put us on the map in our area of Portsmouth.
Winning projects like Southsea Castle, Henry VIII’s own fortress, was a source of pride and validation. It was then we invested in our people, buy vans, uniform, and employee all of our staff ready to take D Squared to the next level.
Fast forward to today (7 years later): We’re a team of 21 people, with new hires on the horizon.
We’ve continued to secure prestigious frameworks and have recently outperformed long-standing firms on high-profile projects.
We’re proud of our journey so far, and, despite the curve balls, we’re excited to keep pushing forward with humility and ambition.
Thanks to everyone who’s been part of our journey!
